all the news that's old:
11 July 2009
Oh, Fossilized website, how badly you have been neglected! But now, at last, you are updated - and how! A flashy new design and general revamp. What do you think? Pretty snazzy, huh?
Many thanks to those of you who joined us at Wesley for the lunchtime concert. We had a great time...we hope that you were adequately entertained also.
Some news regarding the album(s):
This Cannot Be Seen in the Stars is nearly at the end of the recording process. We are very excited about this one (yes, just as we are very excited about everything we produce). This is an EP, but here at Fossilized HQ we attribute a slightly different meaning to the term "EP" - while other bands put out EPs with 5 or 6 tracks, we put the "Extended" in Extended Play. 17 songs this time around! EPs give us a chance to experiment a little more than we tend to on our albums proper. Expect to hear us having way too much fun with Chris' guitar effects pedal and Logan's army of 80s synthesisers :) We hope to release the thing later this year.
The much-delayed second album has, of course, been delayed further. We decided on the tracklist soon after releasing the first album, way back in the Jurassic Age (2006), and have come to the conclusion that it no longer accurately represents who we are as a band. In consequence, the album is on hold until we re-jig the tracklist. We will begin to focus on this once the EP is out. Current ETA on the album is early- to mid-2010.
In other exciting news: in anticipation of the band's 10th anniversary next year we are teaming up once again with ex-members Josh Lorden and Ian Bertram to record some of our very earliest songs (and early for us means primary-school-era!). Will this material ever be suitable for public consumption? We cannot comment on that at this point - although you can expect to hear one of these antiques, "Teleportation", on the upcoming EP!
Finally, due to the ever-increasing number of projects which this band seems to juggle, I have added a new section (which you should now see on your left) tracking the progress of each project. It will be updated...occasionally.
That's it for now,
Logan
